My boss is brilliant. He just may be the nose-twitching whisker-wearing King Weasel.
He approved my request to work as a remotee, but contingent on that permission is that I accept a ‘performance plan’ for my first year.
What this means is that he is guaranteed that I will work my butt off to get the next release out, but he also has the ability to fire me at any time. He’s padding my file so that if he decides to terminate me, all the accolades of the past year won’t be enough to give me a ‘wrongful termination’ suit – after all, I’m already on a performance plan. For the record, no one I’ve ever known at YSC who has been placed on a performance plan has ever gotten off of one – they are always fired. (Crash can’t remember it happening either, and he was here 7 years.)
Well, at least this means I should remain employed long enough to get to NM and get settled (read: get a mortgage with a decent rate) before I am asked to resign. Which might just suit me perfectly. Ha ha, King Weasel, I’m way ahead of you.
