the soft layer

So things on the TK front are proceeding pretty well.  I now have in my possession the first layer. Which is a Lycra shirt and tights.   The shoes, which are a white jodhpur boot, have been ordered.  Interesting how often I find myself at horse/tack stores looking for star wars bits.  The company I got my from actually lists them as stormtrooper boots.  The blaster is also on its way(thanks amazon).  It’s going need some painting/sanding/filling, but no more so then I did with the rebel blaster.

Still alot more to get: gloves, holster, voice box and something to carry it all in.

I can see now why it really was only in the past 10 years or so that the 501st has been in really operational.  Cause with out the internet I  not sure how I could put this together.  From guides to costuming to suppliers of parts.

Project: TK

No this has nothing to do with my jeep(which is a TJ)  Its the designation for a standard Star wars Stormtrooper.. Yep I’m joining the darkside.  While the flight suit will always be my first love, this suit will gain me entrance to the fighting 501st(the sister group the Rebel Legion)  Actually there’s alot of crossover between the 2 groups, but out there are more 501ers than Rebels out here so after lots of teasing and being the token rebel, I’ve decided to make the leap.

This costume is way more complicated than the old flight suit.  I already have a lead on a set of armor but then I will need to come up with lots of extra parts, like the black tights, shoes, gloves, blaster, holster, PA voice system, and giant tub to hold it all.  Atleast it should be considerably less sewing.  And I will have the advantage of a good group of friends who will more than lend me hand getting suited up in white.(considering they were ones trying to get me to join in the first place)

I will try and keep everyone updated on the status of this one.  Its gonna take a while to gather materials and such but I hope to have something to submit for membership in a couple of months.

I guess I’m gonna have to change the category from rebel rambling to SW rambling.

Food glorious Food.

I am once again chewing real food again.  My mouth is nearly back to normal.  The back of my gums where there was once teeth are still a little tender and they feel kinda funky.  I don’t think I’m gonna tackle any jerky or hardtack  for a little while, but I would say by now the worse is over.
So what i’ve learned from this.

1. Mushy food has no real flavor, I was expecting no texture but the lack of taste really confused me.  Maybe its the act of chewing that gets the taste buds going.
2. I found a decent pain killer called Ketopron that works alot like ibuprofen and helped keep the some of pain away.

Still not sure it was worth the money and week of unpleasantness.

odd test going around

I can’t say I agree with the results.. its says I think more artist than engineer… But its scored me pretty low on artistic skills and I way more engineer than an art guy.

E2: The Everything Test 2

There are many different types of tests on the internet today. Personality tests, purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all.

Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We’re turning that upside down - all the questions affect all the results, and we’ve got some innovative results too!
Version 2 is leaner, meaner, and features a more mature and varied set of questions than the previous test. Enjoy!

So much for my shark teeth

This morning I had 6.5 teeth removed from my head. 6.5 you say.. well it was my 4 wisdom, 2 others that were behind my wisdom teeth and the .5 is a tooth that came in and fused itself to one of my wisdoms. Been putting it off for awhile cause i knew thanks to my resistance to many of the opiate family of drugs it was going to be a painful and annoying process. But I can say my oral surgeon did a good job, and I wasn’t even completely out for the procedure I kinda remember him working on the last bottom ones. He was also really quick. Total time in chair was under an hour.

Now lets see how long it takes before I chew real food again.
