One of the things some people don’t realize is that when you have a costume for a movie its typically designed to last only a couple hours, or that they may make many version of the same costume so your favorite character always looks his best or worse depending on the movie. When you scratch build one for yourself and troop around in it for say 2 years, its gets a bit worn/frayed/stained. After the last troop even I noticed my was was starting to come apart at the seams. So I found a place on ebay that makes alot of costume parts and a couple others had said that their suits were not too bad so I gave it a shot.

When telling a story especially in a movie or book, its important to have the main character face some sort of conflict. The conflict can be internal or external. It is also important that by the end of the story the has dealt with the conflict preferably overcome it. This is not the case in Jumper.. unless you count finally dating your high school girl friend as overcoming a conflict. For almost 2 hours the movie bounced around(pun intended) With out much to show for it. The world building was week and character backgrounds were often reduced to one liners or pictures on the wall. By the end you have no real empathy for either side and so when it ends with out resolving anything, you walk out with nothing to show for it. A definite pass.
Summer movies better get here soon.. Hellboy II, Indy(4), Dark Knight, Iron Man, Wall*E heck even Get Smart
So I will be participating in this year’s NM Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. It be April 27th, 2008. If you would like to help sponsor our efforts You can make a donation here. And for those curious yes we will be doing this in costume, cause I am sure as heck not going to be shown up by some stormtrooper.
Well thats 36 trips around the sun now completed. To celebrate Melissa took me to this really tasty upscale restaurant in Abq called the Savoy. It was based on a recommendation of a friend of ours and yea a good choice. I dined on oysters, seared scalps and lobster, Melissa enjoyed some crab pastry and stuffed chicken. For desert coffee, Chai tea, Ice Cream Profiteroles and Orange Sabayon Semifrio. Then I was greeted by giant bag in the back seat of car which contained Indiana Jones Legos. Needless to say to day has been filled with dodging plastic boulders and snakes. In the Freeze is Ice Cream Cake from Cold Stone.
