Been really busy this past couple two weeks, first went on business trip for 4 days(2 of those were long travel days) For a brief taste of goofiness check here. I have been spending the rest of the time working on putting some finishing touches on my flight suit. The new helmet, chest box and blaster are now pretty much ready to go. Timing is about prefect. I wanted everything done tonight to give them a full 24 hours before packing. Unfortunately the last trip seems to have finally killed the battery on my laptop so that not gonna make the trip. Should not be an issue as my camera can store ~3k of picts in current mode, and wife is bringing hers.
So just as I get a back to work, I get a phone call from wife unit, informing me of a package has arrived. In it, brace yourselves… is the flight helmet I ordered almost 11 months to the day(I checked) now the guy has been pretty apologetic about the whole thing and is throwing in some free stuff. He even included another fully painted/assembled chest box.. for those counting this now means I have 3 chest boxes and 2.5 helmets. So needless to say the evening has been filled with painting/sanding and a little light glue work. I am not sure how many brain cells I will have left between the 3 different glues and the paint. I promise once I get some of these things done to put some picts in the gallery. But I had to stop for a bit because BBC America has finally come to their senses and started showing Top Gear. It is a BBC car review show that just cracks me up due in no small part that the hosts can do some real brain dead things.
So in the midst of dealing with getting some proper heating and cooling installed in the house,(the house hovers around 85 or so degrees) I’ve been working on getting ready for D*Con 07. A good piece of con advice I picked up is never try to build any costume 24 hours before heading to the con and since I am going on a work trip next week this is really my last full week to work on my flight suit. My old chest box is pretty nasty and is missing a switch, so I figured now is a good time to work on its replacement. I’ve been sanding/assembling/painting the new box all week and it looks way sharper than my old one. Unfortunately the new helmet I ordered is still a no show, so I’m most likely going to use my old one for now. I’ve also been working on communications back and forth on parade details.
As the time gets closer I’m getting pretty excited, this being my first recreational time off since really last Con. And don’t worry I have a much better camera, and Melissa promises to keep hers on her neck at all times.
