So a quick trip to walmart yesterday, netted us a 2″ binder for her work, dinner fixings, and a wii. The wife has wanted one for a while now, but supplies are still a bit thin and even ordering them on line was tough. Turns out the local walmart has been getting shipments in like clock work once a week and takes them a couple days to sell out. So we walked in, saw a couple in the case, asked the woman with keys and she said “oh I got a couple here”
We recently started reading the Dresden Files books. These were the source for the short lived Sci-fi channel show by the same name. Basically its the adventures of Chicago’s only wizard listed in the phone book, a cross between and detective mystery and.. hmm not sure what its a cross with, some people say Lord of the Rings, some say Dungeons and Dragons and still others say Buffy the Vampire slayer. But considering he’s faced evil wizards, vampires, ghosts, zombies, faeries(his godmother is in fact a real fairy), more vampires(theres a bit of a war) and one of his close friends is pretty much a modern day paladin, I guess its a mix of everything. The author adds enough sci-fi references, that while you are reading you can play where’s that line from. They are a pretty good read, and we have just about finished the series. Most likely I’m gonna stop for a bit, so I can rest up for the 784 page gorilla that is the last Harry Potter book.
Well after several disappointing summer movies, I’m looking at you Spidey3 and Pirates3, We finally saw something worthy of the summer blockbuster. My only real ding with the movie is that they changed the car/plane versions, but I was able to over look it. They even had the original voice actor for Optimus Prime. The movie knew what it was and stayed true to its genre, no angsty, no 8 subplots getting in the way, just giant robots and giant explosions.
Its really amazing how far CGI is come along, and left the door way open for more than mets the eye sequels.
