Well thats that

Well turned in my keys, badges and other crap, from my really crappy government job.  Definitely not going to miss that place.  I did learn a few things, 1 I never want to be a contractor working for a place that does not what its doing and 2 My patience level is much higher than I could ever have imagined.

Now its just a matter of getting with the moving company and throwing a bunch of crap in the Jeep in the next week.   Weee

Oh and what I hope is my last NC winter weather event.   Been watching the forecast change ever couple hours for tomorrow’s weather.. sigh.. things are already closing

X-wing is back on-line

And was heard a great sound of relief and joy as UPS man left my now fully operation laptop on my doorstep.  I had a classic case of frozen hinge, which busted the bezel.(I’ve seen this on pretty much every laptop manufacture)   My concern was that I would not get it in time, when I hitch my jeep to a star and head west.  So posting and CoH shall continue with out interruption.  Well the posting might drop off when the web server gets packed up and put in the big truck.
and for record my computers are named Laptop:xwing, Workstation:Mynock(not the bat creature, but nickname of astromech), Work:wedge

Weather update

Well the frozen stuff finally stopped around noon.  Schools were delayed the next day by a couple hours.  And as I type this we brace for the next unknown winter event schedule for tomorrow.  Forcasts are saying something possible falling tomorrow with it being sleet, rain, freezing rain, with up to 1/2 inch of acculumation.  I understand that meterology is not an exact science but I would like to see some sort of reasonable idea whats going 24 hours in advance.  Hell with yesterdays stuff 12 hours would have been nice.

Well in three weeks I should be able to predict the weather 12/24 hours inadvance with a calendar, and good view out my window.

Yep its a NC weather event

Last night and early this morning (6ish) I was told that it would still be a light freezing rain event.  I should have known better when I looked out side to see snow not only falling but collecting on the ground.  By the time I made it to work at 8am the predictions changed to measurable accumulations of snow.  I actually watched buses drop kids off home, cause they had already started picking them when the call to cancel came in.  Sigh… yep definitely not going to miss the NC weather.  I will post update later with what we actually got.

You’re All Clear, Kid. Now let’s blow this thing and go home

Its official.  I have just accepted my new job offer, and with it we are heading back to the Land of Enchantment.  The start date is next month so tomorrow I get to give my 2 week notice(Which brings great joy).  Right now I’m a little too exited to think straight.   So look for more details latter.

Jeep bits

So for the holiday season I got a set of new H4 headlights and a new Aluminum valve cover, for Beastie.  The lights went on last weekend and yesterday, thanks in part to James, the valve cover was installed.  We must be getting better at this stuff cause, it only took 2 trips to the auto parts store and one trip to the dealer for parts.  We still managed a test drive in a 4-door wrangler, and had time to clean up before it even got dark.  The engine seems to run a bit quieter and should dissipate heat better.  The dealer trip was totally not my fault that the breather value is just a piece of plastic that after almost 7 years has become pretty brittle, and I can’t take James to any kind of car lot with out him talking to some sort of salesman.
