scary stuff

So we went and saw Silent Hill the movie.  Having played all the PS2 games, we were a bit worried about it being yet another bad video game movie.  We were plesantly surprised to get just as creeped out by the movie as we were the games.  I think they did a great job with incorporating game elements into the game, with out having resort to the cheesy first person effects of Doom(yea we also wadded through that recently)  If you are a fan of the games go catch it.

and remember friends don’t let friends watch Doom

Small world and great ride.

So, today I hit the American Tobacco Trail.  Its a project to convert old unused railroad easments into greenways.  This one is open to walkers, bikers and horses.  Saw a fair amount of evidence of horse use.  The tail its self great, lots of benches along with way, couple of rest rooms and is a very scenic. Eventual the trail will go to down town Durham, but right now this section ends just south of the wake/chattam county lines.  Being during the week it was pretty quiet only but one of the people I met was a guy who went to University of New Mexico and his sons.  I will definately be hitting this trail again.  I feel great and definately got a bit of a work out.

New toy alert

So after our little adventure at shearon harris I realized that it was time to retire my old Mt. bike. She served me well for many many years but the breaks were going out(again), the shocks were not really handling the bumbs and the rear de-railer was throwing the chain. So I have been looking for a while and thanks to a sale at a local bike shop I picked up this. Its a Trel Fuel 7. A big change from my last bike. Don’t worry I also got a new helmet to go with it. The problem is that years of sitting on my butt as left me completely out of shape and I can only handle about 15 of full sprint riding before I need to break. Fortunately the sprinting around my neighborhood is pretty good so If I can manage that a couple of times a week I should start seeing results soon.
