I was tired of the huge looking, oddly spaced body section for my postings, so I tweaked the spacing down and shrank the font. I think it gives the CR/LF abit more definition.

That should give you an idea on how slow this week was, nothing happened except I changed the size of the font on my blog.

Since everyone else I know has either bought or upgraded their machines, and mine is starting to show its age, Accounting(ie Mushi) has cleared the purchase of new parts for my computer Mynock(its a really really obscure Star Wars refrence, as apposed to the obvious Star Wars refrence)

This is gonna be a big jump since currently I am running 1.2 gig AMD with 512Megs of ram and a Nvidia Ti4400 video card. But fear not enviromental warriors, some of the parts(Ram, CPU, etc..) will be going into a new webserver(instead of the poor underpower which will almost double is computing power and memory. Right now it looks like a Shuttle XPC Barebone will be its new home.

So I while in Hawaii I was trying to explain the joy that is North Carolina winter weather. They were amused/confused when I tried to make sense out of what is called around here as wintery mix. Well now we get to suffer through what looks to be a whole week of it. Now I am not holding my breath since they can’t even seem to get a 12 hour forcast right…. its 12 hours come on people. So I have a whole week of temps hovering around the 30-40 degree mark with some sort of precip falling from the sky…..

On the plus side it looks like I won’t have to suffer through and cold winter holiday season. This year would have been michigan(three year cycle 1 for us, 1 for my dad, and one for melissa’s mom) But instead we are all going to Las Vegas baby…

So yesterday right after we left for work an powerful cold front plowed through the area, causing much havoc(our weather station recorded a 34 mph gust) Well it knocked out our power, and after 20 minutes our UPS dutifully powered down the server. What was supposed to happen next was that when the computer sensed the power had returned to turn itself back on. But those pesky humans forgot to turn that feature on in the bios.

Well we mostly surived our trip to the Hawaiian Islands. Melissa got some sunburn and my foot met some angry beach rocks. It was great to see some of our old friends again.

Hilo(where we had sushi in this tiny little place)
Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park (acutally saw lava flowing into ocean)
Kona or Kailua-Kona (yes this is the place of the yummy coffee)

The hotels were ok not great. I may latter go into gory details of the trip. But the bottom line is that now that we have done Hawaii we are pretty sure we don’t want to go back.
